Eligibility

  • At least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Good moral character; no felony conviction within 5 years, no real estate-related fraud ever

Step 1: Complete 90 Hours of Prelicense Education

Complete 90 hours of ADRE-approved prelicense coursework covering: - Arizona real estate law (ARS Title 32, Chapter 20) - Real estate principles and practices - Agency relationships and disclosures - Contracts and financing - Fair housing

Cost: $300-$600 online or classroom

Step 2: Apply to ADRE

Apply at azre.gov: - Application fee: $60 for salesperson - Fingerprint clearance card (required — apply through the Arizona Department of Public Safety) - Fingerprint clearance card fee: approximately $67

ADRE processing: 2-4 weeks after complete application.

Step 3: Pass the Exam

Schedule through Pearson VUE: - 180 questions (100 national + 80 Arizona) - 3.5 hours - 75% passing (135/180) - Exam fee: $75

Step 4: Activate with a Sponsoring Broker

License issued inactive; must be associated with a licensed Arizona broker to practice.

Renewal
