Eligibility
- At least 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Good moral character; criminal history reviewed by AREC
Step 1: Complete 60 Hours of Prelicense Education
Complete 60 hours of AREC-approved coursework covering Arkansas real estate law, principles, agency, contracts, and fair housing.
Cost: $200-$400
Step 2: Apply to AREC
Apply at arec.arkansas.gov: - Application fee: $75 for salesperson - Background check - Fingerprinting through IdentoGO: approximately $25
Step 3: Pass the Exam
Schedule through PSI: - 130 questions (80 national + 50 Arkansas) - 4 hours - 70% passing (91/130) - Exam fee: $75
Score reported immediately.
Step 4: Activate with a Sponsoring Broker
License issued inactive. Associate with a licensed Arkansas principal broker to activate.
Renewal
Every 2 years. Continuing education: 7 hours per year (14 hours total per 2-year cycle), including 3 hours of mandatory topics. Note: Arkansas CE is required annually, not just at renewal.
