You've done the studying. Now it's time to execute on exam day. The Indiana PSI salesperson exam is 130 questions in 4 hours — here's how to walk in confident and walk out with a passing score.

Before Exam Day

Schedule strategically. Don't schedule your exam the morning after a late night. PSI centers open early; a mid-morning slot gives you time to wake up, eat, and commute without rushing.

Confirm your test center location. Indiana has PSI testing centers in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Evansville, South Bend, and other locations. Confirm the exact address and parking situation the day before.

Know what to bring: - Two forms of ID — primary ID must be government-issued with photo and signature (driver's license, passport) - Secondary ID with your name (credit card, student ID) - Your exam confirmation number

What NOT to bring: - Notes, books, or study materials (not allowed in the testing room) - Phones (must be stored in a locker) - Food or drink (water may be allowed; check PSI's current rules)

At the Testing Center

Arrive 30 minutes early. Check-in involves ID verification, a palm vein scan, and a security screening. Late arrivals may be turned away without a refund.

Use the on-screen calculator. PSI provides a calculator in the testing software. Don't bring your own — it won't be allowed.

Use the tutorial. PSI offers a brief software tutorial before the exam starts. Use it to get comfortable with the flagging tool and navigation before the clock runs.

Time Management During the Exam

You have 4 hours for 130 questions — about 1 minute and 50 seconds per question. This is generous, but it goes fast if you dwell on hard questions.

Strategy: 1. Answer every question you know on first pass 2. Flag questions you're unsure about 3. Move on immediately — don't get stuck 4. After the first pass, return to flagged questions 5. Reserve the last 10 minutes for a final review

How to Handle Difficult Questions

  • Eliminate wrong answers first. With 4 options, eliminating 2 wrong answers gives you a 50% chance on a guess.
  • Watch for qualifiers. Words like "always," "never," "must," and "only" often signal a wrong answer.
  • Trust your instinct on first read. Statistically, first impressions on exam questions are correct more often than second-guessing.
  • Never leave a question blank. There's no penalty for wrong answers on the PSI exam.

Indiana-Specific Last-Minute Reminders

Before you walk in, have these facts memorized:

  • 130 questions (80 national + 50 state), 75% passing each section
  • 24-hour trust account deposit rule (from broker receipt)
  • IREC has 5 members
  • License renewal: 3 years, on birthday
  • 12 CE hours per renewal cycle
  • Indiana adds ancestry and marital status to federal fair housing classes
  • Seller's Disclosure required before or at contract signing (2-day rescission if after)

After the Exam

PSI delivers preliminary pass/fail results immediately at the testing center. If you pass both sections, you'll receive documentation to start your license application through the IPLA.

If you don't pass, review the score report to see which content areas need work, then schedule your retake strategically.
