Here's the complete process to get your Montana real estate salesperson license in 2025.
Eligibility - At least **18 years old**; high school diploma or equivalent - Good moral character; criminal history reviewed by Board
Step 1: Complete 70 Hours of Prelicense Education - 60 hours general real estate principles + 10 hours Montana-specific law - **Cost**: $300-$500
Step 2: Apply to the Board of Realty Regulation Apply at **boards.bsd.dli.mt.gov**: - Application fee: **$60**; background check and fingerprinting
Step 3: Pass the Exam Schedule through **PSI**: - 120 questions (80 national + 40 Montana); 3.5 hours; 70% passing - Exam fee: **$75**; score reported immediately
Step 4: Activate with a Sponsoring Broker License issued inactive; associate with a licensed Montana broker to activate.
