# Utah Real Estate Exam Day Tips

The Utah real estate exam is 130 questions over 4 hours at a PSI testing center. Proper preparation for exam day — not just the content — makes a real difference in your performance.

Before You Arrive

Verify your testing location. PSI has centers in Salt Lake City, Provo, St. George, and other Utah cities. Confirm the address when you register and again the night before. GPS can sometimes route you to the wrong building.

Bring two forms of ID. A government-issued photo ID (driver's license or passport) is required as your primary ID. Bring a secondary ID as well. Both must show your full legal name exactly as registered.

Arrive 30 minutes early. Late arrivals may be turned away without a refund. Factor in parking and the check-in process.

No study materials at the center. Leave all notes, textbooks, and electronics in your car or at home. PSI provides secure lockers for personal belongings.

At Check-In

PSI staff will verify your ID, photograph you, and check you for prohibited items. You will be provided with scratch paper or a whiteboard and an on-screen calculator. No external calculators are allowed.

During the Exam

Budget your time. 130 questions in 4 hours gives you roughly 1.8 minutes per question. Do not dwell on uncertain questions — flag them and return after completing the rest.

Read questions thoroughly. PSI questions often use absolute terms like "always," "never," "must," or "cannot." These qualifiers frequently indicate the most important part of the question.

Answer every question. There is no penalty for wrong answers. Never leave a question blank.

Attack the state section strategically. The 50 Utah state questions cover the REPC, trust accounts, UDRE procedures, and property management rules. If you have studied these topics, you are well-prepared. Do not rush through them.

Stay calm on REPC questions. If you spent time reading the actual REPC form during your preparation, these questions should feel familiar rather than tricky.

After the Exam

Results are displayed on-screen immediately after you finish both sections.

If you pass: Take your score report and proceed with your UDRE/DOPL application. Do not delay — PSI score reports may have expiration windows.

If you fail one section: You only need to retake that section. Review PSI's content area breakdown on your score report to identify which topics cost you points. Schedule your retake as soon as possible while the material is fresh.

If you fail both sections: Step back, create a new structured study plan, and give yourself 2-3 weeks of focused preparation before retaking. Use full-length practice exams as your primary study tool.
