After the Course: How Much More?

No real estate background: 4-5 weeks, 1-2 hours/day Business or law background: 3-4 weeks Licensed in another state: 2-3 weeks focused on Arkansas-specific content

Week-by-Week Plan

Week 1: AREC and license law — 7-member commission (5 brokers, 1 salesperson, 1 consumer), Title 17/Chapter 42, 60-hour prelicense, 2-year renewal, 7 hours CE annually.

Week 2: Agency — written disclosure at first substantial contact, buyer agency agreement requirement, dual agency consent, sub-agent concept.

Week 3: Trust accounts — next business day delivery, 5-year record retention, commingling prohibition. Residential Property Disclosure Act scope.

Week 4: National content review — financing (TRID), valuation (cap rate), fair housing, contracts.

Week 5: Full 130-question timed practice exams (4 hours). Target 78%+ before scheduling.

Scheduling

Apply to AREC at arec.arkansas.gov. Schedule through PSI. Exam fee: $75. Testing centers in Little Rock, Fort Smith, Fayetteville, and other locations.
